Learn new embroidery techniques as you craft a beautiful butterfly pin in this embroidery calss in Seattle. Join fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ to learn stumpwork embroidery!
Stumpwork is a type of textural embroidery that uses padding and wire to create sculptural elements that stand out from the fabric, creating 3D elements. In this class, you’ll learn how to make wire slip butterfly wings. These wings will be movable and flutter away from the fabric.
After stitching the wings, you’ll be able to finish your embroidery in a pin setting to wear. This makes for beautiful and one-of-a-kind wearable art!
This class is best suited for makers who have stitched before, however, all are welcome. You can take your skills to the next level or practice your passion among other creatives in this fun workshop. All materials are included so you can get crafting with ease.
If you cannot attend class for any reason, we will offer an exchange to another class currently on our schedule up to 48 hours before the class. After that time, no refunds or exchanges are issued out of respect for our teachers who purchase and prepare supplies based on the number of attendees.
Our current COVID protocol is that anyone attending an event can contact us to let us know if you prefer that people wear masks up to 72 hours before the event begins. Your request is anonymous to all the other participants. Attendees will receive an email before the class to let them know if we will be requiring masks to be worn.
Beginners welcome, but best suited for attendees with some stitching experience.
