The Turkish Mosaic Lamp Workshop in Manhattan I attended today; February 16, 2025; was extremely fun!! The instructors Lourdes and Jerry were very upbeat, friendly and knowledgable. The two instructors also provided Turkish tea and a Turkish treat for our enjoyment. Turkish music was also being provided in the background; as a mood setter. (I kept wanting to dance to the music. LOL)

I would like to begin with mentioning that when I booked the workshop throught @ClassBrento, I was offered a selection of lamps to select and be provided with on the day of the workshop.
The class began with a short history of mosaics, an explanation of the class timeline and then a brief explanation of how to apply the tiles and a suggestion to wait a couple of minutes to allow glue to get tacky so tiles don't slide down globe. Also pointed out that there design ideas on the tray provided and in the box supplied. Along with design patterns, were tweezers, small plastic spatula and the grout to be used after the glue has fully cured. After that I and the other pariticipants were left to decorate our globe, with Lourdes and Jerry there to answer questions, offer suggestions and help with tiling or beeding.
Allow me to also mention that the instructors were very accommodating in allow changes to the material. I asked to upgrade to thr 6" bowl and Lourdes just took the 4" globe and returned with the 6". Another participant originally was decorating a mosaic candle holder but changed her mind and requested a lamp, and the two instructors merely substituted the candle holder to a lamp globe and lamp.
What was particularly enjoyable was the numerous colors of the mosaics and beeds to select from and in triangular, square and diamond shaped. In total there were twelve (12) colors to choose from. Among them, purple, mirror, brown and a couple of other colors beyond the standard colors.
Again, the class was extremely fun, the other participants at my table were also very friendly, which made the workshop progress easily. The instructors friendly and knowledgable. In closing, I definitely recommend anyone interested in Turkish lamps and creating their own mosaics consider attending the Mosaic Art Studio.  + more
Just took a cooking class at the Kitchen Engine (Wok Cooking Class) The venue is great, with ample individual space, comfortable stools, and high quality equipment. Our chef (Jake Thompson) was friendly, interesting, and attentive to our questions. We prepared a sweet and sour beef stir fry, using the wok technique. We were able to eat our own creation, and the chef had also prepared a side dish for us. Delicious! Parking was easy and paid for with the class, as well as a 10% discount on any purchase in the store. A fun experience for us.  + more
This class was so much fun! My husband and I went for Valentine's day to the perfume class. The teachers were so helpful and fun! Highly recommend for crafters of all skill levels. Lauren was great at explaining each step of slab building, as Rachel helped with colored clays. Both were encouraging and I look forward to taking future classes from them. 3 hours went by in a flash, and a usable mug was created that I can’t wait to see in its final form after firing and glazing.
I enjoyed learning to decorate a vintage cake! I’ve never done it before and wanted to try something new. Youngsuk was welcoming and provided good instruction. She took her time. She gave personal attention and guidance to each student. It was relaxing as well. I thought the heart shaped cake was cute especially for February near Valentine’s Day. I loved the experience! Our rugs came out amazing and the guidance was there and he gave very easy to understand instructions. The music and the crowd were chill and on point
Had such a great time!!! The process is so accessible and stress free, Amesia makes it fun and easy to just jump in. Can’t wait to come back with more friends!
I don’t recommend this workshop. The solders we had were of poor quality, you trust the teacher when they say the lamp is ready to be released from the mold and yet you end up with a damaged lamp and you’re just told that it may not have been ready yet. You leave the workshop with an ugly lamp that is ready to go to the trash. Very disappointing. Not worth it.
If I could give 10 stars I would!! Lots of laughs. Michelle was very patient with me. I would highly recommend, I actually already have recommended it to my friends and family.
Yare was wonderful, insightful, knowledgeable, patient and more than anything super welcoming. We did the mass art workshop and it was a great Valentine’s Day celebration. I will definitely do it again, it was a wonderful experience working with natural items. Especially now that we get to take something home. Would definitely come again, thank you!!!
Fantastic class, really fun. Jimmy was calm, cool, collected, and extremely helpful during the entire process! We're super excited to rock our new bands
Every single thing about Black Phlox was PERFECT! The ambiance, the flow, the owners’ energy, the creativity was immaculate!!!!! I would recommend to ANYONE from couples, loners, friends, teenagers. LITERALLY ANYONE! Y’all definitely have future customer from me
This was such an amazing class! We really enjoyed learning the new craft and Junko was absolutely amazing, accommodating and fantastic to learn from! It’s clear that Junko matches expertise, passion and kindness in a way that made the experience truly beautiful! I would recommend this for anyone and any occasion, DO NOT HESITATE!
Super cool class. The teacher was great and kind. The only thing I found super frustrating was the fact that almost ALL the spray cans were empty, which definitely slows you down. There’s a sign that says not to just grab new cans, one party got so tired of asking they just started grabbing them.
Mason and I loved doing this for a fun Valentines Day activity. While he was familiar with the process, I was a newbie. Either way, Shari, the instructor, was super welcoming and provided a causal and open atmosphere for us to be hangs on throughout the entirety of the our shirt making! She really let the group have fun with whatever we were interested in making and helped when asked!
Will definitely come back, especially so I can make some tanks for the summer
Valentine’s Day class was awesome! The food was incredible and it was the perfect amount of hands-on cooking. We are so excited to eat our take-home lasagnas and will definitely book again with Jamie! Plus the desert was delectable!
Alice was a wonderful teacher! She gave good instructions and made the class enjoyable. I added fresh flowers after the class was over. I’d definitely recommend!
Phenomenal! We loved it - we learned new culinary terminology, cooking tips, ate AND left with a delicious meal to boot! We highly recommend! Thank you Jamie and crew! 5 ️
I had a great time during the class and enjoyed learning all the techniques. Nalini's explanation and in particular, how to mix/dilute paint and add oil was especially helpful if we want to do at home. I certainly will be trying at home. My only issue was getting the wet artwork home. There should a box/cardboard top or something provided to insure the pieces get home without messing up your car.I had a great time during the class and enjoyed learning all the techniques.
