What you'll do
Turn common building materials into treasures in this craft workshop in Los Angeles! In this workshop, you will learn how to design and create your very own concrete vessels that will make for beautiful and functional art in your home or office. No previous design or casting experience is required, so you can dive into this creative project with ease. Your instructor will take you through each step of the process from safety steps to personalizing your pieces with your own flair. Choose between a terrazzo-inspired design or a desert-tone colorway. You'll use pigments to achieve beautiful colors that will bring your concrete homewares to life. Each vessel will be cast using a special concrete blend. You will use silicone molds to cast concrete layers to create a trinket tray, pot, and tea light holder. We will also go over a simple technique of adding drainage to your pot if you decide you want to make this a small planter set.Working time will be about one hour, with a drying time of one hour, so your pieces will be ready to open by the end of the class. Your instructor will also provide guidance on sealing your concrete pieces, giving you a sealer and brush to seal them at home the following day.As a beginner, this workshop is a welcoming space for you to explore your creativity and learn a new skill. Working with concrete may seem intimidating, but your instructor will guide you through the process in a supportive environment.The hands-on experience of creating something tangible with your own hands can be a rewarding and fulfilling activity. Whether you're looking for creative date ideas or a new hobby, this is an opportunity to learn a new craft and spend time with others. Hi, my name is Krizia I'm the founder of Concrete Geometric. I started my small business over a decade ago as a creative hobby to have a break from my 9-5 job. It instantly became my favorite thing to do. I continued to work full time while balancing my side hustle. About a year later I was able to leave my full time job and pursue my side hustle full time. After many years of designing collections and creating pieces from concrete I began teaching my craft to beginner and fellow hobbyist. In 2023 we opened out first retail/ workshop storefront where we teach in person and online workshops. I firmly believe having any sort of creative outlet can benefit us in so many ways.
