Discover the magic of botanical alchemy known as bundle dyeing or eco-printing in this Kirkland workshop. Create unique botanical imprints on paper with raw dye-stuffs such as flower blooms, plants, and kitchen waste.
Eco-prints are made when plant material is placed between layers of paper and then steamed or boiled to transfer the pigment in unique, lasting plant portraits captured onto paper.
We’ll explore ways to further enhance your botanical prints through intuitive mark-making with sumi inks, micron pens, and watercolor paints. You’ll also learn how to turn your eco-prints into cards, tags, or mixed-media collages.
This beginner craft workshop is a great way to explore your creativity, explore sustainable craft ideas, and try something new!
What you'll learn:
  • Create a one-of-a-kind work of botanical art to gift or display
  • Renew our relationship with the land, seasons, and life cycles of the materials we work with
  • Discover which leaves and flowers are the best to use for eco-printing and why
  • Learn about the magic ingredient, alum, which permanently affixes plant color to paper & cloth
