Welcome to Funk Shui Studios! My name is Shelby and creativity has always been a huge part of my life and has helped me through my most challenging moments. In recent years, I have also developed a dedicated meditation and mindfulness practice that has help me heal and relegate my nervous system so that I can live a more peaceful and joyous life. These outlets have become a deep passion and I have discovered they go hand-in-hand. It is my mission to share the healing benefits of creativity and mindfulness. From this desire to be in service and positively impact others by doing and sharing what I love, Funk Shui Studios was born.In the fast-paced and over stimulating world we live in today, it is now more important than ever to care for our inner landscape.Our Therapeutic Art Classes are designed to regulate your nervous system and help reach a place of inner calm so you may explore the benefits that creativity brings. We begin each session with a meditation and breath work practice to ease the nervous system and help you drop into the present moment. Then you will be guided through a creative project designed to express yourself and explore your inner world. I have a wide variety of classes to choose from. From Gemstone Sun Catchers, Pressed Flower Frames, Paper Wildflowers, Wire Wrap Jewelry and much more. A little bit about me, Ive been an artist my whole life. Ive explored many different mediums like painting, crochet, sewing, wood burning, and pretty much anything I could get my hands on. When I was 19 I discovered my passion for jewelry making. I belonged to a Gem and Mineral society (I love rocks) and one of the members offered a wire wrapping class. As soon as I took the class, something inside of me clicked. I knew that this was 'my thing'. In the 10 years since I have pursued my love for jewelry making through further education, and these days I do metal smithing, engraving and stone setting. I have a custom jewelry business, Funk Shui Fine Jewelry, where I specialize in creating meaningful, keepsake jewelry that tells my clients unique stories. In 2024, I decided to open my own studio so I could begin to teach and share my love for jewelry making. The dream has evolved to sharing my love for creativity in a broader sense, including a variety of fun creative projects and incorporating meditation and breathe work. I think now more than ever we need safe and healthy spaces to regulate our nervous systems and connect with each other in community.I really hope you'll join me in my beautiful studio to relax, connect and create.
