Enjoy a hearty Italian meal and a fun hands-on lesson in this gnocchi cooking class in the Hudson Valley! In Italian, there is a saying that translates to “Smile Smile, Mamma made the gnocchi!” You will be all smiles with sticky hands as you learn how to make gnocchi from scratch.
In this part-demonstration, part-hands-on class, you will learn to make four variations: sweet potato, pumpkin or squash, russet potato, and broccoli stem. These tasty recipes showcase the endless possibilities for gnocchi!
You will also learn the difference between gnocchi and pasta and practice proper handling of the dough for the ultimate pillowy texture. You will make your own batch of dough, roll it, and shape it into gnocchi. You can even take home some gnocchi (or dough) to cook for yourself at home.
We will cook batches of gnocchi for tasting: sweet potato gnocchi with sage brown butter sauce and a dairy-free broccoli stem with sautéed broccoli florets, garlic, and chili oil. You’ll also practice the proper cooking technique. Enjoy a meal of freshly cooked gnocchi and salad followed by a decadent tiramisu for dessert.
