This is the perfect place to start if you’re new to welding. MIG welding is highly efficient and is possible to set up at home with a 110v outlet. Leave with a solid foundation of MIG welding techniques and the skills to start a new hobby if you feel inspired!
The day begins with essential safety training and an introduction to MIG (GMAW) equipment. Known as the "hot glue gun" of welding, MIG welding is a straightforward and efficient method where you feed wire into a molten puddle of metal to fuse two pieces together. You’ll spend the class running beads and learning how to control the machine with confidence.
In your welding workshop, you will weld four panels together to make a beautiful little candle lantern for your home. This is a fun beginner welding project that will leave you feeling rewarded and with a functional creation!

I am a woman entrepreneur on quest to create beautiful hammered artwork and to spread the love of blacksmithing to other people.
I began blacksmithing over fifteen years ago while earning a degree in fine art. When I had the opportunity to learn blacksmithing I latched onto it. I was so mesmerized by the color and the glow and the power of moving metal. I thought, this is what I'm going to do, for the semester... Many years later and I now have a shop in Richmond, California, with employees, some big pieces of equipment and big dreams.
And while my classes are all project based and meant to be approachable, I want to help others achieve their big dreams. Whether it's making tools, decorating your home with custom metal or creating cosplay costumes. I'm small enough that the students can help guide what I offer in the future.
