Mending Class: Intermediate Visible Darning

Have you mastered basic darned patches, and feel ready to learn some more advanced darning methods? Join this mending class in Seattle to advance your skills and become a mending master! Join Erin Eggenburg of Wrenbirdarts for a darning class to learn intermediate knit repair! In this workshop, your instructor will cover how to darn in pattern, shape, and the elusive duplicate stitch technique. You will also learn surface patterns including, twill, plaid, and chevron. You'll also learn the technique to repair missing stitches and holes with Swiss darning.Bring your items in need of darning, or use the provided scrap knits to practice these freshly learned darning skills. Lots of thread and yarn will be provided, but bring your own if you want to work with a particular color or type of yarn. Darning needles are also provided.After this class you'll be able to patch up your knits in time for the chilly season. It will also add a little bit of personality and sustainability to your well-loved items. Please note: a basic understanding of darning is a prerequisite for this workshop. Before signing up, you should be able to darn a hole, this will not be covered in class. We are also offering a Beginner Darning class that will give you the skills you need to attend the advanced class.
