Learn how to make iconic Japanese street food in this cooking class in San Diego! In this workshop, you will learn how to make Okonomiyaki, commonly referred to as being a Japanese pancake.
The word "okonomiyaki" is derived from "okonomi" meaning "as you like" and "yaki" meaning "grilled." Accurate to its name, okonomiyaki can be served with a variety of toppings. This class is perfect for anyone who enjoys Asian flavors and wants to learn more about how to recreate these flavors and techniques at home!
In this entertaining, hands-on class, you will be guided step-by-step in creating the perfect batter that holds everything together. As you create your vegetarian base consisting of cabbage and scallions, you will also have the option of topping your artfully crafted Okonomiyaki with shrimp or bacon.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you do not already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who is happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).
