Tie Dye Workshop: Spirals Edition

Brighten up your wardrobe with this tie dye class in Austin! Tie dye is one of those things that we all think we should be good at because we did it as kids. But tie-and-dye techniques have been used all over the world since the fifth century, so there's a whole boatload and more of knowledge!David, our tie dye expert, will answer all your burning questions: How much powder dye do you mix into the water, and how much liquid dye do you use on the fabric? How do you get a crisp design? How do you make a colorful spiral divided by white or a white spiral divided by color? How do you not accidentally get brown? This class is a shortcut through all that knowledge!Your class will start with an overview of the supplies, then you will learn how to prep the dye and your dyeables, practice a couple of spiral techniques on bandanas, and then apply your new skills to a shirt.In this class you will

• Learn the basics of tie dye
• Use studio supplies like dye and tongs, and receive all materials needed for your finished projects: textiles and special soap for washing extra dye out
• Choose your dye colors and your t-shirt size
• Learn two spiral techniques and practice them on bandanas so that you can see the results of different things you try
• Hear David's little tricks and tips for clear lines and bright colors
• Learn and play in a small class environment with one-on-one support as needed
• Take home your practice and final pieces.

This workshop does not include bringing items from home for dyeing. There will be opportunities for that later! You'll receive a shirt and bandanas to experiment with colorways and tie dye designs!Whether you're looking for summer craft ideas or want to host a fun team building activity or bachelorette party, this hands-on lesson is perfect for beginners.
