Vegan Challah Baking Class: Happy ChallahDays

Learn to make traditional Challah in this hands on workshop in Austin!

2 hours Class size 4 to 16 guests     $96

Celebrate the ChallahDays with this fun baking class in Austin! In this workshop, you'll get hands-on experience in the art of making traditional challah bread from scratch, using just six simple ingredients. You'll have the opportunity to customize your challah by adding various flavor ingredients and mix-ins, allowing you to explore different taste combinations. And that's just the beginning!
Learn various challah braiding techniques. Discover Eli's twist-and-coil braid for a beautiful round loaf, as well as the classic four and six-strand braids. With one batch of dough equalling four loaves, you'll gain confidence as you try out different techniques and practice braiding. This class is perfect for beginners and seasoned bakers alike.
This workshop isn't just about baking bread. It's about embracing the rich background and tradition of challah. You'll learn about the importance of this special bread and its significance in Jewish culture. Eli will also share some tricks and tips for effortless baking and cleaning, making it an enjoyable experience from start to finish.
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with four braided loaves that you can bake at home. And if you can't bake them right away, no worries! You can freeze the dough and bake it whenever you're ready.
If you're wondering why there is a challah baking class at a craft studio, Eli is the founder of Challah for Hunger and has taught hundreds of people how to bake and braid challah. And another claim to challah fame: Did you enjoy challah cinnamon rolls at Bouldin Creek Cafe or vegan challah loaves at Rabbit Food Grocery a few years ago? Those were Eli's! With the demands of CRAFT, Eli doesn't bake as much these days but loves breaking out the kitchen gear a couple times a year for challah classes!
