In this story:
Rebecca Pinnell has always been curious about what makes the perfect cocktail. When she worked as a server in fine dining, she picked the brains of bartenders. Now with years of mixology under her belt, she satisfies her inquisitiveness by imbibing and attending cocktail events to gain inspiration for her creations.
It is the same curiosity and 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry that led her to pursue a career in cocktail education. Rebecca began teaching cocktail history and specialties, to bar staff and cocktail enthusiasts in 2014. Now she shares her knowledge through virtual and in-person classes in the Bay Area bringing together friends, colleagues, partners, and anyone interested in crafting their own cocktail.
Choose your favorite spirit and she’ll bring everything you need for delightful cocktail recipes and a fun experience!
It all started in NYC…
“Where I got my passion for craft cocktails and flavor pairings working in casual fine dining. I began a journey of learning so much about flavor pairings and techniques for preparing food. I took that knowledge and used later it in crafting cocktails. I love learning and tasting and feeling things.”
Curiosity is my driving force…
“Endless curiosity has been the driver of my passion for education, in both acquiring and teaching… In 2020, I crafted my virtual cocktail class business and have taught over 500 classes as of March 2022.”
Cocktail making builds community…
“There is something special about learning new things together, in a warm and inviting space, that elevates the sensations of community, and give people something to talk and reminisce about.”
Good hospitality is my love language…
“I absolutely delight in the chance to offer people a journey in party, service, connection, and beverage.”
You’ll leave my class with…
“Skills on how to quickly create seasonal cocktails using bar tools or common kitchen items to make them. Most people are blown away by the technique of making simple syrups in mason jars– a fast way to add flavor to cocktails. I’ve heard that students also learn how to better order cocktails in a bar and what to specifically ask for to get the drink they are craving.”
Non-drinkers will love these workshops...
“I typically make and drink alcohol-free cocktails in class to create a comfortable space for those choosing to not imbibe. Talking about alcohol-free options can be important for parents, and I encourage them to show their kids how to make drinks together. My nephew asks me to make cocktails every time I am home, and that time has become some of the sweetest times together.”
You can expect a darn good party…
“By opening the floor up for discussions, sharing stories and beverage preferences, as well as play music in class when we shake our cocktails!”
