If you're looking for engaging activities for your next special event, add a creative twist to your party with a pottery class in Oakland! This workshop is great for birthdays, bachelor/ette gatherings, milestones, anniversaries, field trips for small teams, and more.
Explore the potter's wheel for a few hours with your favorite people and learn basic wheel throwing skills in a comfortable and supportive environment. Each person will throw on the wheel 2-3 times, creating bowls, cups, and other ceramic pieces to bring home once they are fired. Waveform studio will fire and glaze your work, so you can have beautiful and functional pieces of ceramics.
The pottery studio in Oakland specializes in beginners, with small classes and chill vibes, so your whole group can feel comfortable when embarking on this artistic adventure. Feel at ease and come open-minded, as this studio values accessibility, curiosity, celebration, relaxation, and transformation.
After your throwing session and pottery lesson, your group can wind down in the beautiful, sunlit studio patio and courtyard. Bring your snacks, cake, or beverages to enjoy and bask in the afterglow of working on the wheel.
Tap into your creative impulses and play in the art room with your neighborhood Mx. Frizzle!

Hiya! I’m Caty Monahon (they) — Caty, Cath, Mx. Frizzle — an artist and audio storyteller with a passion for continuous learning, mindfulness and musicals. I’ve been captivated by clay in motion since I was 13; I turned my garage into a clay classroom in 2022 after leaving a remote office job.
I specialize in beginner pottery and mixed media classes; my studio values are accessibility, relaxation, celebration, curiosity and transformation. I've been throwing on the wheel and working with clay for nearly two decades and I love getting newbies on the wheel!
In addition to teaching art classes in Oakland at Waveform Ceramics and producing my own audio-themed art, I also create and host Material Feels, a monthly podcast that explores the intimate relationship between creatives and the materials they fall in love with.
