Get ready to stitch up something special! In this hands-on Brooklyn crafting class, you’ll design and embroider an apron that’s as unique as you are. Perfect for adding a personalized touch, this apron will be something you’ll wear proudly in the kitchen, garden, ceramics studio, or wherever you want a bit of handmade flair.
To start, choose between two adjustable apron options: a standard cotton apron or a premium, heavy-weight cotton apron for added durability and washability. Your workspace will be set up with everything you need, including a template to help develop and transfer your design onto the fabric. You’ll receive guidance on how to draw, trace, or tape your design onto the template, then transfer it onto your apron using pencil, pen, or fabric markers.
Select from pre-drawn flash designs or bring your own ideas to create a piece that’s truly your own. Whether you thrive on structure or enjoy a more spontaneous approach, this class is designed to meet your unique style.
Once your design is set, you’ll learn how to set up an embroidery hoop, thread a needle, and master basic stitches. Spend the rest of the class stitching your design, chatting with fellow crafters, and creating a beautiful, handcrafted apron you can keep working on at home.
With a relaxed, supportive atmosphere, this Brooklyn class is perfect for spending the day solo or with a few friends. While you may not finish all the embroidery in class, you’ll leave with your layout complete, a good start on your stitching, and all the materials needed to continue at your own pace. Come away feeling inspired and ready to create your own heirloom apron!

Kelli Kikcio is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Saskatoon, SK, Canada, currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
Kelli has had a decade long, full time career as a self taught, machine-free tattoo artist and has owned tattoo shops in Brooklyn for the past 7 years. Prior to tattooing she earned a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design at Toronto Metropolitan University, eventually working as a menswear designer.
Outside of her career, making and working with her hands has been a life long practice and priority. With over 20 years of sewing experience, Kelli has always had a penchant for pattern drafting and construction. Her shift from designing and crafting garments to objects was born out of her innate desire to problem solve and build. Kelli has been focusing on soft sculpture for over 5 years and finds that her audience is fascinated and drawn in by the playful, interactive, and soft nature of her work. She intends to re-imagine everyday objects in fabrics that are nostalgic, that call to mind feelings of comfort and home.
Kelli has an incredible and loyal following in the global/local tattoo community, and is now exploring sharing her penchant for handicrafts with those who know and love her work through workshops. Currently her workshops are hosted from her art studio in Brooklyn, NY and are suited for 8-20 guests, creating an intimate and homey environment. Fostering community and conversation through arts education is a true passion of Kelli's that is fulfilled through her classes.
