Find your new ceramics community at this hand building open studio session in Manhattan! If you have fallen in love with clay and hand building, this open studio offers the opportunity to continue exploring clay and create the object of your dreams.
When you arrive at class, you will receive one pound of white stoneware clay to create your piece. Additional clay can be purchased. You'll also have access to hand building tools and glaze application services! Whether you've only taken one hand building class or you're a seasoned ceramicist, you'll have access to all the supplies you will need to enjoy a fun studio session!
An open studio session is a great way to keep up practice after an instructed lesson. You are also able to mingle with other artists, find inspiration through exploration, and relax in this creative studio space. You can come by any time during this open studio session, you are not required to arrive on time or stay for the entire session.
Glazing fees are included. Firing fees are not included and are based on the size of your creations. All finished pieces are food-safe, microwave-safe, and even oven-safe! Pieces are ready in 4-6 weeks for pickup. Delivery available for a fee.
Per piece, firing fees are:
  • x-small - $3 (1x1x1 inch or smaller)
  • small - $5 (4x4x4 inch or smaller)
  • medium - $10 (6x6x6 inch or smaller)
  • large - $15 (10x10x10 inch or smaller)
  • x-large - $20 (larger than 10x10x10 inch)
Knowledge required
You are required to have attended an instructed hand-building class prior to attending this open studio. Your prior class does not have to be with Drawing Room.

Angela (our founder!) started hosting claydates, playdates with clay, from her small studio apartment and now we call Chelsea our home.
