Enjoy the online class - after booking, you'll get a link to join the interactive class.
This hands-on bread workshop is for private groups looking to learn together. We will send out a DIY kit with one starter to the host, who will then share it out amongst the other members. It's a fun group activity that will bond your team over the love of baking.
Everyone will get a chance to share their bread experience and current baking level and ask any questions throughout. We will use breakout rooms so you can have a go at developing each other's dough and encourage one another.
We will explore the five factors that impact fermentation and how to feed your starter. This is vital for maintaining your starter as well as making your dough.
Then it's time to roll up your sleeves and rise to the challenge of making sourdough bread. With your new knowledge in hand and a friendly teacher at your side, everyone in your group will mix up a sourdough batch. You will learn how to develop and strengthen the dough and then either bake as a flatbread or leave it to proof and later make a sourdough loaf.
Your teacher will provide handouts and instructions for the sourdough starter as well as for any future bakes. You also will have the chance to call the Sour Flour hotline for any bread help.

Sour Flour
Sour Flour

Sour Flour was founded in 2009 by Danny Gabriner when, through home experimentation with sour dough baking, he decided to start a bakery with a twist. The first 1000 loaves would be free and would be given away to neighbors, collaborators and anyone who expressed an interest in Sour Flour. A bread community began to be born and Danny began to enjoy the idea of reciprocity that the free bread engendered. People began to sift through the woodwork offering help and wishing to learn the art and science of baked bread. While bread sales remain a focus of Sour Flour, neighborly bread gifting, and bread education are high values held by Sour Flour.
Bread Education
Bread Education is a service provided by Sour Flour to help people master sour dough baking, to train future Sour Flour employees and to create an educated community of bread consumers that appreciate Sour Flour bread. You can sign up for one of our workshops.
