Get ready to dive into the art of embroidery and design your own tote bag in this hands-on Brooklyn workshop! Perfect for those looking to explore a portable DIY craft, this class is designed to bring creativity to your everyday accessories — whether you’re stitching on the subway, in a café, or relaxing in the park.
You’ll begin by setting up at your personal workstation, where you can sketch and plan your tote’s layout. Select from a variety of pre-drawn flash designs or bring your own ideas, and then transfer your vision onto the tote using pencil, pen, or fabric markers. This process allows room for both those who prefer a thoughtful approach and those who enjoy a more spontaneous creative flow.
After your design is mapped out, we’ll cover embroidery basics, guiding you through setting up an embroidery hoop, threading a needle, and learning essential stitches for outlining and filling. You’ll spend the remainder of the class bringing your design to life, stitching and connecting with other creatives in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Whether you’re crafting a heartfelt gift, a personal keepsake, or simply adding a special touch to your favorite bag, you’ll leave with a beautiful tote ready to carry through the streets of NYC. Walk away with confidence, newfound skills, and all the materials you need to continue your stitching journey!

female Women-owned

Kelli Kikcio is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Saskatoon, SK, Canada, currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
Kelli has had a decade long, full time career as a self taught, machine-free tattoo artist and has owned tattoo shops in Brooklyn for the past 7 years. Prior to tattooing she earned a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design at Toronto Metropolitan University, eventually working as a menswear designer.
Outside of her career, making and working with her hands has been a life long practice and priority. With over 20 years of sewing experience, Kelli has always had a penchant for pattern drafting and construction. Her shift from designing and crafting garments to objects was born out of her innate desire to problem solve and build. Kelli has been focusing on soft sculpture for over 5 years and finds that her audience is fascinated and drawn in by the playful, interactive, and soft nature of her work. She intends to re-imagine everyday objects in fabrics that are nostalgic, that call to mind feelings of comfort and home.
Kelli has an incredible and loyal following in the global/local tattoo community, and is now exploring sharing her penchant for handicrafts with those who know and love her work through workshops. Currently her workshops are hosted from her art studio in Brooklyn, NY and are suited for 8-20 guests, creating an intimate and homey environment. Fostering community and conversation through arts education is a true passion of Kelli's that is fulfilled through her classes.
