HI, I’M ROBIN, FOUNDER OF THE HOOP.
The daughter of a Mexican mother and American father, I grew up in the Bronx New York. After a successful 38-year career in the fashion business, I found myself at a crossroads. I certainly wasn’t ready to retire and so I took baby steps in exploring my next adventure.
I traveled back to my childhood spent in Mexico City, stitching alongside my grandmother, mother, aunts and cousins. There we were, all together - the adults discussing the day, their lives, and the gossip. My cousins and I listened and took notes; not only fastidiously learning stitching, but life lessons, too.
This fiber has followed me on each adventure, every joy, and each disappointment and triumph … it is the one constant in my life.
Helping me sail through rough waters, my hoop has always been there. When the world outside is turbulent, my peace can be found inside the hoop. With each stitch, my troubles fade away, and I focus on the magic of creating something that didn’t exist before.
In founding The Hoop, I hope to bring together a circle of curious creators who want to explore fiber craft forms and techniques together.
