Color your wardrobe with skills from this fabric dyeing class in NYC! Fabric dyeing is a great craft to learn for upcycling, thrift flipping and simply to add some creativity to your day!
In this class, you will use fiber reactive procion pigments that produce bright colors and do not bleed when washed. You will learn how to prepare fabrics such as cotton, silk, and linen, learn about color, and how to mix dyes. You will also experiment with dye application and will be introduced to a variety of techniques such as direct application, tie-dye, and painting. We will create one silk scarf and four samples of dye experiments that you can later refer to when giving fabrics at home a new life!
All materials are provided, but you are encouraged to wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty. We will learn how to use dye for repurposing textiles while fostering a sense of joy and experimentation!

Are you interested in learning creative ways to reduce waste and extend the life of your textiles? As a trained textile artist I have learned a variety of skills and techniques for working with fabric. I love to share the knowledge that I learned and help others access their creative side.
I have created a travel teaching kit and bring all the materials to you. Participants don't need to have prior knowledge, just a desire to experiment! Learning a new skill in a group is a great way to connect and learn more about each other in the process.
