Carolina Gonzalez Iwanow is a multitalented artist, from jewelry to music. She teaches the secrets and the art of metalsmithing at her NYC Jewelry Lab in Brooklyn.
Carolina was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, under the sign of Sagittarius in a very loving, artistic, and musical family. At a very early age, she developed her passion for music, arts, architecture, science, photography design, and jewelry through the hands of her very talented parents and grandmother who was a designer and a tailor.
Carolina was inspired by her grandmother, “Juanita, ” who had a beautiful photo and fine jewelry collection. She was amazed with both but jewelry was absolutely magic for her and she always wondered how all those tiny perfect pieces were built.
At the early age of 19-years-old, she studied contemporary jewelry with jeweler Jorge Castanon. Shortly after, she decided to open her own jewelry shop. She also studied Fashion and Textile Design at the University of Architecture Buenos Aires, Multimedia Arts at the O.R.T. University, and Music Production at Escuela Sonica.
She developed much of her knowledge of jewelry and the jewelry industry through first-hand experience designing, producing, and manufacturing fine jewelry and high-end fashion jewelry for the biggest brands and fashion brands in Argentina and worldwide. In 2003, Carolina opened the first Contemporary Jewelry Art Gallery in Buenos Aires.
In 2014, she moved to New York to continue her career in creating, designing, and providing consultancy services to new and established jewelry brands helping them to manufacture, grow and positioning in the market. Most recently, she has designed for the Eva Mendez Collection, private labels, and curated the Collective Jewelry Exhibitions for NYC Jewelry Week.
