If you're looking for a unique way to display and care for your plants, learn the Japanese art of Kokedama, in this gardening class at home!
Kokedama is the ancient bonsai practice of wrapping the roots of a plant in soil and moss and then binding it into a moss (koke) ball (dama) with string. In this online class, you will learn how to do so with herbs, to create your very own herb garden. Your instructor will meet you via Zoom to teach you how to create your DIY project at home. Your instructor will also provide holistic information about the herbs in class, specifically touching on their native habitats and culinary and cultural significance. Have no fear if you aren't a plant whisperer, you will also learn plant care tips for your new Kokedama herb garden.
You will receive a craft kit with everything you need to create your kokedama, including three herbs such as basil, rosemary, and sage. You will also get a keepsake note card for pressing herbs and taking notes in class along with recipes and care instructions for each Kokedama.
If you're looking for fun things to do at home or want to host a craft night, this is the perfect activity where you can engage in a hands-on activity and finish with a beautiful handmade takeaway!

I’m Jasmine, I run KoKeDaMa Flora in a studio space full of plants and flowers surrounding one large work table, gather round and let me tell you all about them. I allowed my passion for plant and flowers to become my life work in the spring of 2017. My life until then was full of art making at Pratt and Purchase College, modeling and gallery hopping in NYC, exploring the coasts and shallows of Cape Cod and Savannah, Ga. Join me in exploring the benefits of working with plants and flowers. Whether building terrariums or designing bouquets I will guide you in every step. Learn where plants are from and how they’ve coexisted and contributed to cultures and cures throughout our histories on this planet, our earth. Honour the seasons and your own curiosity and let’s create art with plants and flowers.
