Refine your technique and deepen your understanding of the human form with this figure drawing class in NYC. Through an engaging and hands-on lesson you can take your intermediate drawing skills to the next level.
After this class you will be able to draw the human face, its most basic expressions, and a general method of depicting different hair types and basic hairstyles. In this class, you will learn how to use lines to express readable emotions on the face so that you can learn what differentiates expressions from each other.
This class includes a mix of 30-second gestural drawings, 1-minute, 5-minute, and 10-minute poses followed by a final 20-minute pose. The class has one model who will be nude during each pose. All phones will be collected at the start of the class and available during breaks.
Instruction topics:
  • A lecture on the face and its specific features and characteristics.
  • Visual materials include well-known drawings of the human face and a diagram of the facial muscles and cranial structural elements.
The demo will include simplified methods and practices for capturing the essence of the major facial expressions and hair types.
Knowledge required
Intermediate drawing skills and comfortable drawing figures.

The Brooklyn Loft is an art and workshop studio located in Bushwick, dedicated to creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind experiences centered around community for LGBTQ+ and a/Artist individuals.
