Introductory Drawing Course

Improve your drawing skills and receive personalized guidance in this series of drawing classes for beginners in NYC. Over three sessions, you will learn the fundamentals of drawing!You don't need talent to draw, but you do need to learn how to look and transfer what you see on paper. Learn observation skills, shading, volume, form, and perspective to start drawing realistically.Each class, we will work on a specific skill:

• Class 1: intro, blind drawing, line quality
• Class 2: values and form, perspective, still life
• Class 3: building on what you have learned, final drawing, reflection

No previous experience is needed. All you need is the ability to make a mark on paper with a pencil. This class will show you that even if you don't think you possess any artistic skill, you can still learn to draw! Besides drawing skills, you will also learn more about specific artists and their drawing techniques. We will look at Picasso, Leonardo Da Vinci, Rafael, and many others.Please note that the workshop will take three hours each week plus break time: we will have a break for snacks (please bring your own), and our actual finish time might be a little later.

No experience necessary!
  Three sessions of drawing lessons.
 

• Plain paper (provided)
• Regular pencil H or HB (provided)
• Or set of pencils HB, 2B, H - (this is optional)
• Eraser
• White object (provided)
• Mirror or camera to see your face
• Additional drawing supplies will be available for shared use
• You are welcome to bring your favorite mark-making materials and paper
• A snack

This class series runs over 3 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
