Whether you're a tea lover or just curious about tea ceremonies, this class in New York City will show you the beauty in the rituals.
Japanese tea ceremony, known as chanoyu (“hot water for tea”) or chadō (“the way of tea”) is considered a representative traditional art of Japan. This ritual, with a history spanning over 800 years, comprises a mixture of socializing, meditation, and appreciation of a good drink, and remains popular to this day.
Participants will learn from a tea master the basics of how to prepare matcha and perform the ceremony at a table using traditional tea utensils. You'll also learn the series of movements and associated rituals based on Zen Buddhism to help to calm the mind and improve concentration.
Incorporate meditation through chanoyu into your daily routine and aim for a balanced and fulfilling life for both body and mind!
