Have you always wanted to try your hand at woodworking but never got around to it? In this beginner-friendly class, you'll learn to build your own self-powered ride — an old school, hardwood pintail longboard!
Guided by an expert local crafter, this workshop is an excellent exercise in the core woodworking skills. From planing and cutting to smoothing a rough piece of hardwood and attaching your rolling stock, you'll get the chance to get hands-on with every stage of the creative process so you can ride off in style!
Your teacher will be on hand with helpful demonstrations as you choose between oak, maple, or walnut for your deck material and pick out your favorite wheel color to create a beautiful board that perfectly matches your style.
At the end of this craft class, you'll have all the skills you need to tackle your future DIY wood projects and a unique longboard to ride down the streets of New York City!
What you'll get

We transform "regular folks" into welders, woodworkers, jewelry makers, leather crafters, knife forgers, and stained glass artisans in just one workshop. Our hands-on workshops are taught by local makers, artists & designers in Brooklyn.
Locally owned and operated since 2015, Craftsman Ave is a destination to connect people who want to learn how to do new things with a skilled and likable craftsman who can show them how to do those things in a straight forward, fun, and non-condescending manner. You can make cool stuff while supporting the makers and artists of NYC who we hire to lead our workshops.
