Lovela + Company comes from humble beginnings. Over a decade ago, I decided as a New Year’s resolution to learn a new hobby. I chose candle making for its balance of creativity and complexity.What started as a hobby quickly became a passion that led to various candle recipes, loads of research and lots of trial and error. Candle making is more than simply melting a chunk of wax, dumping in some fragrance oil and pouring the mixture into a vessel. Instead there are the fundamentals of understanding how to work with various types of candle wax, learning how fragrances perform in various types of wax, researching which type of wicks to use and/or stay away from, overall quality and appearance, and of course most importantly-safety.During those initial years, I honed my skills by learning the art of candle making to become an expert chandler. Only after I was satisfied with my technique did I realize my disappointment by the lack of availability to buy aesthetically pleasing candle vessels. Additionally, I wanted to offer thoughtfully curated DIY candle making kits for the modern-day hobbyist something that was an an option when I started learning the craft.I quickly realized the need to start casting my own candle vessels and curating unique candle making experiences. So that is exactly what I did. I set out to create a modern, sleek, beautiful candle vessel and Lovela + Company LLC came to life.In July 2021, I opened a small studio to complete the design for The Essential Candle. A candle built on my mission to make a sustainable product entirely by hand but also to fill living spaces with clean, complex, custom-blended fragrances. Upon completing The Essential Candle, I began designing and crafting other products as well. I am truly proud of the home fragrances I have to offer my customers, products I know they will enjoy.As the owner of Lovela + Company, I do it all. All of the products are designed, created, made-by-hand, formulated, printed, packed and shipped by me in my studio located in Austin, Texas. It brings me great pride and joy to be doing what I love.
