Create beautiful earrings and learn a traditional Japanese art in this jewelry making class in NYC. In this mizuhiki Japanese craft workshop, you will learn how to create the most basic mizuhiki knot using colored cords with your choice. You will be guided through the process of making your mizuhiki earrings.
During the class, you will learn about mizuhiki in Japanese culture and have the opportunity to express your creativity. Working with colorful cords and creating complex patterns may seem daunting at first, but you'll be surprised by how meditative and rewarding the experience can be.
Mizuhiki is a decorative thin cord used on the front of envelopes for celebratory and condolence gifts. It is primarily used for engagement gifts, the covers of gifts, New Year decorations, and similar items.
With a wide variety of colors and types, Mizuhiki is used to craft traditional motifs such as cranes, turtles, pine-bamboo-plum, and treasure ships. Recently, it has been utilized in a broader range of applications, including decorations, accessories, and interior design.
Don't worry if you're new to mizuhiki – this workshop is designed for beginners, and I will make sure you feel comfortable and confident throughout the class.
By the end of the workshop, you will have a beautiful mizuhiki creation to take home, a tangible reminder of the new skill you've learned and the wonderful experience you've had.

Welcome to Mizuhiki Global Links.
We conduct Mizuhiki workshops both in Tokyo and NY.
Satoi, the Japanese mizuhiki tutor started her classes since 2018 while her stay in Boston.
Everyone has their own creativity, and her mother is also a Japanese cloth artist, but she conducted her career for 12 years in the broadcasting industry in Japan and Australia, as well as 5 years as a public speech tutor at the performing school, which have been focusing on linguistic and phonetic expressions.
Her change has come when she met Mizuhiki, which connects the Japanese spirit through color and form, and that was very efficient and soothing way to visualize emotions for everyone.
She began offering workshops at home and the adult education center while in Boston, USA, for the people who were also fascinated with mizuhiki's delicacy and beauty.
It's important for participants to focus on choosing various colors and materials along their feelings by the period of time, and concentrate deeply on the art of tying Mizuhiki.
