Wheel Throwing
If you're curious about pottery making and want a crash course on the basics, give this NYC class a go! Learn this unique style of pottery while exploring the basics and enjoying a creative day of wheel throwing. It's a chance for complete beginners to try their hand at the potter's wheel and make work similar to Nemadji ware.
Nemadji pottery originally comes from the Arrowhead region of Minnesota. It has never actually been made by Native Americans of the Ojibway tribe but is said to be reminiscent due to the clay bodies used from the Nemadji River.
This class will introduce you to the basic skills of throwing on the potter’s wheel. No prior experience is required. Come along for one class or book multiple, the choice is yours! Our talented instructor will assist you with the basic techniques of the potter’s wheel.
After making your piece, you'll keep the bowl or cup you've made. We will sand, fire, and glaze it for you to bring out the natural brilliance of the Nemadji clay. Due to the clays used, the result will be random swirls of brown and cream with other earth tones.
Whether you're looking for date night ideas, team building activities, or fun things to do this weekend in NYC, this pottery workshop is a great option. Sink your hands into some clay and make a piece of glazed pottery to treasure!
