“At age five I fell in love with painting when I lived in the back of my grandfather’s paint store
in Brooklyn. It was my favorite place to play: Shiny paint cans, tubes of color and the smell
of linseed oil permeating the store were imprinted on me at a very early age. I especially love sharing the excitement and joy of art-making with children."
Norma Greenwood is an artist and credentialed educator with a graduate degree in Fine Art and Education, who delights in sharing the joy of making art with others. She is licensed by the DOE, her teaching experience includes Learning To Read Through The Arts, Art Workshops Nassau County Schools, Mixed Media workshops Lexington Avenue Y.
Her warm and engaging personalty encourages students of all ages and abilities to enjoy the process of creating something uniquely their own. Her art classes are about the fun of seeing everyday objects in a new way and learning how to express that through art.
Classes are held in her artist studio on Union Square where students of all ages have an opportunity to explore a variety of approaches to making art.
As an artist, Norma is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including three grants from the NY State Council on the Arts, and a NY Foundation for the Arts award. She was awarded public art commission by the Jacksonville, Fl. International airport, her public collections include the Museum of American Folk Arts, AT&T, City University of NY Art Gallery, Citicorp, and Columbia Pictures. She  frequently exhibits work in her home town of New York City.
