I was born many moons ago, but the Bread Baker of Riverdale came to life during the pandemic.
A life-long fan of sourdough bread, I was initially intimidated by the baking process. But when my daughter gave me some sourdough starter, I was on my way. With hard work, patience and the support of some skilled friends, I was able to unlock the mysteries of naturally fermented bread.
When I found myself baking far more than I could ever eat, I began to donate to a local food pantry. Next I started to barter with neighbors. Before long, folks with nothing to barter asked to purchase my loaves.
From these simple ingredients, a bread business was born.
A request by a local community center to teach added another element to my bread baking journey. A journey I hope you'll join me in.
