Brooklyn Stitch Studio offers sewing workshops and classes for all ages in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Our sewing studio, located within Gowanus Creative Studios, is designed to inspire creativity and community.Whether you are new to sewing, haven't sewn in years, or just want to try something new we have you covered. We specialize in beginner-friendly bag-making workshops, where we introduce a wide range of beautiful and unique materials. From Rifle Paper Canvas to Translucent Jelly Vinyl, our curated selection of fabrics inspires creativity and transforms participants into both sewers and designers—all in just one evening. Brooklyn Stitch Studio started as a sewing summer camp program using an available school during the break. In fact the location is the classroom where our founder Kate teaches school. A sewing camp seemed like the perfect way to blend a love of sewing and love of teaching. In her personal craft Kate is a bag and dollmaker. She founded the doll line Modern Doll Studio in 2020. After running the sewing camp for a few summers more and more parents started asking to come in to learn to sew too. And that’s what inspired the opening of a dedicated sewing studio space.At Brooklyn Stitch studio our mission is to make sewing accessible and fun! we handle all the materials purchasing and prep so participants can come in and get right to the good stuff of designing and sewing. And your sewing doesn’t have to end with your workshop or class. We also offer open sew times and provide participants with access to a video tutorial so they can make their projects again at home too.
