Get hands-on with clay! Explore the world of clay in this 12-week combination wheel and hand-building course in NYC. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this pottery class welcomes all levels.
During the pottery course, you'll dive into the fundamentals of working with clay by hand as well as throwing on the pottery wheel. We'll cover how to refine your pieces through trimming and attaching handles, explore alternative ways of creating texture, as well as glazing, underglazing, and more.
If you're looking to start a new hobby, this pottery class will teach you all the foundations to set you up for success. You will have guidance from an experienced instructor and hands-on lessons where you can build on your skills week to week. You will gain experience in how to use a potter's wheel, hand building basics to create functional ceramics, and find a creative community in this ceramics studio in Brooklyn.

Enrollment Notes:
  • Enrollment requires full-semester commitment.
  • There are no refunds for missed classes, but we do offer makeup classes within the same semester (makeup class policy).
  • Weekly open studio time is non-transferable.
  • Firing fees are 4 cents per cubic inch per firing.
  • Additional clay is available for purchase.
  • Open studio hours are subject to availability and change in COVID restrictions.
  • Hand Building Tool Kits ($30) are available for purchase separately and include a small synthetic sponge, wood rib, large ribbon loop tool, double-ended ribbon loop tool, metal needle tool, wood modeling tool, metal scraper rib, cutting wire, scoring tool, knife, and wooden paddle.

What you'll get
Each class includes 25 lbs of clay, as well as the use of glazes, oxides, and slips. Each student will also receive 2.5 hours of open studio time each week. Please note, weekly open studio time is non-transferable.
 
Session repeats

This class series runs over 12 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
